Felictas was born in Rome in the sixth century. She was the mother of seven sons and was a devout Christian. Her beliefs were against the popular opinion of the time and it was demanded that she renounce her Christianity. She refused and was forced to witness the brutal murder of her oldest son. When she still refused to deny Christ as her saviour, one by one all of her children were slain in front of her before she was eventually martyrized herself. A seventh century fresco is still visible on the rear wall of the crypt where Felecitas’ remains remain. It depicts mother and sons huddled together with Christ above bestowing his blessing. Her feast day is November 23.
